Well Let me explain something about Jeonju in a nutshell...

The name of the land " Jeonju" first appeared in the 16th year of the king. Gyeongdeok of Shilla dynasty (AD 757) in history, being changed of its name from Wansanju to Jeonju, which has been called so since then to this day. A city with history of millennium - that is what this city, Jeonju is all about. Furthermore, Jeonju, which used to be the capital of Baekje dynasty established by Gyeonhwon in AD 900, Jeonju is the birthplace
of Joseon dynasty and the last capital of late Baekje, which kingdom flourished for 500 years.
Having served as, practical capital of Jeollado which province governed the whole region of Jeollado and as far as Jejudo during Joseon dynasty, Jeonju is a historical city that played a tremendous role as administrative hub. Jeonju, home of pansori, a genre of Korean dramatic song, designated as world cultural asset by UNESCO, is a traditional culture experience tourism city which cherishes traditional cultural attributed as most uniquely Korean.
